I believe in “paying it forward.” One act of generosity, no matter how big or small, can make an unbelievable difference in someone’s life. As someone who has completely transformed throughout my 24 years of life, I am a firm believer in karma and giving back. I have been through more struggles than most go through in a lifetime, yet all these struggles have made me realize what life is all about. A life without struggles wouldn’t be a life at all.
This world we live in is amazing and wonderful yet horrific and terrifying at the same time. In order for people to not dwell only on the bad, there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. The people that have realized this understand that good deeds don’t go unrecognized. No matter how miniscule, all the good deeds in the world make humanity move forward.
“Karma” is a funny thing. Some see it as “punishment”, others an “incentive”. However you look at it, believing in karma can alter our personalities completely. In my younger years, I was selfish. I couldn’t comprehend the idea of helping someone else if it didn’t serve me. With age, I have come to realize that the world doesn’t revolve around me. That statement has been the hardest thing I have ever had to admit to myself. I have grown to embrace giving back to the world around me, not only to receive “good karma” but also to help the world be a better place.
There will always be struggle and disappointment in life, yet those times make the great times that much better. Everyone in this wonderful, horrific world goes through struggles, honestly what would life be like without them? How would we know the good from the bad? Our appreciation for those “take your breath away” moments would cease to exist.
A small act of kindness could transform someone’s life. Simply helping a homeless man that’s begging on the side of the street could transform his life. Whether its giving him a few dollars or merely giving him the crackers you packed for lunch, it could change his life completely. Sometimes all people need is their faith restored in humanity.
If everyone came together to help provide for those who have less, the world would be a better place. I don’t only mean people without wealth or a home, but people without love or passion. Wealth cannot buy happiness; it can only buy material items. It can’t buy love or any emotion for that matter. What is a life without feeling emotions? Both good and bad emotions make life worth living.
A quote that sums all I believe together is, “When you put good will out there, it’s amazing what can be accomplished.” (Paul Walker)
