I believe in the inspiring power of beliefs. All of the beliefs that we hold give us hope for the future. They give us joy and sometimes bring disappointment. Some people believe in a god and prayer. Some believe in the power of people and communication. Most of us still believe in love.
Beliefs are what keep the world going. Without them, there would be no America. Without their belief in the possibility of freedom, the first settlers in the new world would never have put themselves through the hardships that they endured.
I believe in a lot of things. I believe in my family, that they love me and will always be there for me. I believe in my friends. They have held me up when I felt that I couldn’t go on any longer. I believe in our country and the premise of democracy, because freedom is the greatest gift a person can be given.
I believe in God, but not because I’ve grown up Christian. It is because I’ve searched other religions, and I know that Christianity has the beliefs that I feel are true.
Believing in God was a struggle for me when I was younger. I wanted to do things that my religion told me were sins. I did them anyways. I hung out with people who didn’t really care for me, just because I thought they were cool. They claimed to love god, but I could tell by their actions that they were just putting up a front.
I ended up getting hurt by them. I was betrayed and then alone, with no friends. I turned back to my beliefs. Family, love, and God. Eventually I got new friends. Friends that would never judge me or hurt me intentionally. My beliefs got me through a time when I felt like no one cared, when I felt that my options were gone and there was no way out.
Now, I feel like my life is better than it has ever been. I don’t do things that I know are against my beliefs. I don’t follow the crowd and betray what I know is right.
Your beliefs can help you though hard times, and inspire you to try new things or help other people. Every great accomplishment was started with a dream and a belief. The beliefs that we hold are necessary and valuable.
I believe that my beliefs have shaped me and guided me, making me who I am. This I believe.
