Abstinence is the fact or practice of restraining oneself from indulging in something. I personally believe in refraining from intercourse until marriage. I believe living life today is, in fact, full of many temptations and desires; and that people, it seems, always want something from one another. I’ve heard that in today’s relationships, even beginning at the middle school, intercourse is a main subject to be discussed and that some people feel the best way to show “true love” to someone is to give them your body. I believe that makes no sense. I believe Love, isn’t complete without marriage. I believe Marriage is the only way to completely declare un-denying unconditional love while showing each other that their heart mind and soul rests with them. I believe love should not be based upon intercourse and that sex, is not a requirement of love.
I believe I am Christian; therefore I try to abide by the Bible. In Thessalonians 4: verses 3-4 it says: “For this is the will of God (even) your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication.” This to me translates to abstinence until marriage. Also Peter 2: 11 says: “Dearly beloved, I beseech (you) as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from freshly lusts which, war against your soul”. I translate that as by doing “freshly lusts” you inhibit war in your soul; therefore, purity and security flees your soul and heart. I believe fortification before marriage is one of the more major sins one can commit in God’s eyes. I believe He, all mighty, wants all to keep our virgin ways. I believe that is why He selected Virgin Mary to become the mother of our Savior Jesus; and by losing your virginity, it takes away ones simple perfection in his eyes.
I believe in being pure. “Purity is freedom from adulteration or contamination. It is freedom from immortality, specifically in a sexual nature”. I believe that by not remaining pure, and failure to refrain from abstinence, before marriage, will potentially result in pregnancy, an STD, or in the long run heart break. I DON’T generally believe in “LOVE” relationships in high school or lower. I believe that in those precious years, we find ourselves. I believe that amongst those years, while we are adapting to different changes in ourselves, we fall in love with the idea of someone willing to attempt to make our lives better. I believe that people feel that if they give someone there body they will feel more secure in their own relationship. I believe that God loves you, and you don’t have to prove anything to him, for He loves you, for you unconditionally and irrevocably, therefore, you do not have to change, ridding yourself from your perfection. You don’t have to change who you are or your beliefs for him. You can truly just be yourself. This I believe.
