Endless possibilities are the essence of an open mind. Keeping your mind open to life as a whole and accepting changes are what keep us moving forward. With time, and an open mind, we can see life for what it is. Be the same token, it can change our future. Without expanding our minds, there can be no progression. Without progression, we lose our direction in life.
In order to open your eyes, you must first open your heart and mind. How can we expect the human race to defy the endless possibilities, when people refuse to think for themselves or think “outside the box”? We cannot; our brains are our own. If everyone thought and felt the same way, we would not have our own separate identities and the world would be a very boring place. Slavery ended, homosexuals can get married and, equal rights for women all came from someone doing and thinking differently from what they were taught. With a closed-mind you are not giving yourself the opportunities this world has to offer. With an open mind you are growing, learning and making a change.
I was raised in a prejudice family, where color mattered to everyone. I decided to walk down a different path in life. I refused to let the views of others, destroy my own thought process. In 1994, I gave birth to a bi-racial child. I could not believe a child made my family look at themselves and choose to change or not. My family finally had to be open-minded in order to love something they had hated their whole lives. I feel blessed to be a part of the open-minded world, and I chose not to be a follower.
Looking at things with an open mind and no expectations, you may find what you were taught to believe may not be the way you want to continue believing. You may find that love has no color, that you can’t tell your heart who to love. Respect and treat all people the way you would want to be respected and treated. With this knowledge, we can overcome hatred and close-mindedness. Open your eyes to new possibilities. As a whole we can grow and learn together. Only if we live and love with an open-mind this world can be a better place. Human kind could progress at a faster rate, if we worked together and loved one another. Together, we could abolish hate crimes, put an end to racism, stop the bullying, stop killing. Make this world a better place for our generation and our children’s generation. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters in Christ’s name. We all bleed red, and we are all human beings put on this earth to serve a purpose. Life is too short for us not to embrace it, we only get this one chance at life, so we should make the best out of it.
