I have a strong belief in the power of patience. I am certain that most are familiar with the phrase “good things come to those who wait”, however the concept of patience has become somewhat of a foreign concept and rare characteristic among many. We live in a society where people crave instant gratification and rush through life without taking the time to truly appreciate what they have. I personally believe in the gift of patience and not allowing your inner world to be disrupted by the outside world.
My belief in being in control of my emotions and finding the humor in things is key in my success an as individual. Before I realized the importance of patience, I lacked the ability to think things through which resulted in a number of rushed and impulsive decisions. I felt that by standing by and being patient meant valuable time was being wasted, when really being impatient was causing more energy and time to be exhausted.
My belief in patience has allowed me write out my goals and aspirations. With patience I am able to create a realistic and definite plan for my life, whereas before I was too hurried and rushed to wait for the results. Gaining patience has allowed me to spot opportunities that I would have missed when previously concentrated on reaping the benefits of other situations. I am now a more focused, peaceful, secure individual who no longer tries to get everything done as soon as possible. I have built a strong foundation for my future and established realistic goals for myself due to my belief in patience. I have found that if I want to achieve my goal of working in the Health and social policy arena I will need to put my belief in patience to use nearly everyday. I will have to be supportive of my client’s decisions, regardless of the fact I may think or wish differently for them. I now strongly believe that I can achieve everything that I want and strive for in life with a little patience and toleration.
