Life AND knowledge
I wonder why people neglect their futures. Remembering the past makes me feel like I should do more. When I was back in Chad going to middle school, I never thought I would be thinking about going to college. Not because I didn’t get what I wanted. But because all of my family, like my big brother and sister who got married right after graduating high school, never made it college. But for me coming to the United States is a big opportunity to finish high school and go to college. Being able to come to this country wasn’t all my choice: it was my father who decided to bring me here.
When I was in my country, I only went to school when I wanted to, and I didn’t think that going to school would help me in my future. So my father decided to bring me here because he felt sad and sorry for himself for not going to school during his childhood and having a hard time for not being educated. My father brought me here so I could receive my rights to be educated. My father is unlike other parents in my country who send their children to the farm working the entire day planting, harvesting weeds, or watering and not being able to go to school and get knowledge. A few months after my arrival in the USA I found out that education is what matters most in this life.
Now I believe that being knowledgeable and educated is what matters to me in my life. Most people think that money is first. but I think if you are educated there is more than one way you can make money with your knowledge. Those who are uneducated on the streets or those who sell drugs. have only one chance to make it. The police get them; they will have to be in jail longer than they have lived. Why do wrong if you can get paid for doing right? It is all about being educated, I believe knowledge is a way of success. And I also believe that knowledge is a way of making money and having a better life.
I remember when I was in my country and I decided to quit school and just stayed home and haug out with friends for almost three weeks. Until I decided to go back to school again. But when I came to the US I realized that staying home is not the best choice, so I started school as soon as possible. There are still people around the world who do not go to school or didn’t go and ended up with no education. And I am more than sure they will regret not getting knowledge because I believe knowledge is what’s needed for today and tomorrow’s life.
