Your Parents’ Love

Everyone has something that comes to their mind when they are in a certain situation. For a teenager it may be their cellphone or iPod. It is probably different for every person; however, it is identical for every parents. I believe that all parents ponder about their children 24/7 and do everything they can to do the best for them.

During my experience in America, I saw a family whose love for each other was greater than no other. My friend had the following characteristics: optimism, friendliness, and amiability. I would have never guessed that her mom had cancer because I would expect someone with a cancerous mother to mourn all the time. Despite that, my friend tried to seem enthusiastic for her mom to prove that she can handle an ordinary life and can bear everything.

She possessed various talents because she not only had good grades, but she could also sing and perform well. The school musical at that time had great importance to her because it was her last opportunity as a high school student to participate and her mom became very frail. So, my friend wanted to present her mother a special gift before her mom left. Her mom visited multiple practices in a wheelchair, and my heart warmed up because while she could barely stand up, she still retained the energy to go to her daughter’s practices. My friend’s mom also went to her performance and she tentatively watched her daughter sing beautiful songs, and I could feel how much she loved her from the way she observed her. It appeared to me that her mom tried to spend time with her daughter as much as possible before she left.

Soon, my friend’s birthday arrived, but I did not see her at school and I had no idea why. Then, I heard people murmuring about how my friend’s mom passed away that morning, and I doubted my ears.

Astonishingly, my friend came to school later that day. No one dared to ask what happened, but from the way she strolled around the school, she seemed absolutely fine. Everyone, including myself, sympathized her, especially because her mom passed away on her birthday. Regardless of what other people thought, my friend believed that her mom’s intention was to leave her a gift. A gift for her to remember her mom and reminisce about their memories on her birthday.

I believe that her mom waited till her birthday to pass away to leave her something unforgettable, which signifies that her mom thought about her even till the last second. After watching a close friend undergo this devastation, or rather a special event, I realized that your parents’ top priority is you.

My parents used to drive me to places all the time during my younger days, and it occurred to me that I deserved their investment of time. They would cancel appointments and meetings in order to drive me to places, and even to this day, they sacrifice their time and money to provide me with good education and environment.

Now, I truly thank them and appreciate the things given to me because I receive so many things from my parents. It doesn’t matter how much you fight or argue, but you and your parents share the same blood, and their love for you exceeds your imagination.
