I believe in choice.
I make choices every day. Some not as drastic as others, but there’s choice in everything I do. From the time I wake up to get ready in the morning, to debating about which oversized shirt I’ll be wearing that night to bed. Drag myself to the shower now? Hit the snooze? Greenville’s 13th annual triathlon, or ex-boyfriend’s baseball tee?
Me being a senior in high school, I’ve been choice making a lot lately. What about college? That’s a big one.. weather I even go to college or not is a choice in itself. I chose yes to prolonging my education, by the way. Though the question of where I’ll further my schooling is still plastered all over my mind. Literally hundreds of informational pamphlets and brochures lying in a file folder titled “College” in the middle of my bedroom floor, is making it seem nearly impossible to choose the one best for me. But again, I believe in choice, so there must be a good one there somewhere.
As we’ve all come to find, some choices are made much easier than others. Like our everyday choices.. You’re having an ice cream craving. One scoop, or two? You caught him cheating, and he asks for you back. Yes or no? Now some situations like these, come easy to me. I choose “Two scoops, please.” and “Not a chance.”
Often times throughout our lives we’re told specifically what to do, masking the fact that there is a choice. “Just say NO” though it may be in your best interest to turn down drugs, you do have a choice. “Clean your room!” you don’t have to, but then you also might be making a choice to be grounded.
So many choices in life. I choose my friends. We don’t choose our family, though we do choose if weather we get along with them or not. I love mine, they’re great! I do believe in God, and I choose to wake up early on Sundays for church. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I choose not to regret any past choices I’ve made. I believe dreams can come true, if you choose to be all you can be. I believe in taking risks in life, I choose to take them.
I chose ‘Hit the snooze’, and my ‘ex-boyfriend’s baseball tee’. I believe in choice.
