I believe in living life to the fullest with no regrets. I have this one life and I want to make the most out of it because life is too short. There is no better time to live life to the fullest with no regrets than the present.
Lyme disease is a bacterium from a deer tick which goes through the blood stream. Since I was five years old I was diagnosed with Lyme disease stage four, and since then I have gone through four I.V. treatments to put it in remission. Life was going well for me since I was five years old, but it all hit me in 2006 when I tested positive with Lyme disease and had to do one of the many treatments. To perform this treatment it required a PICC line, which goes in a vein in the arm down into the chest next to the heart. This was a new experience for me.
I didn’t enjoy this treatment very much since I stopped breathing in the middle of it and could not go through with this therapy. On top of that, I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which required me to go on a diet of 40 grams of fat a day. In the end of this I missed all of my junior year of high school due to the illness and having acute pancreatitis.
After taking some time off from this therapy, it was time for a change which was to start a new session of I.V. for the Lyme disease. I had to get a new PICC line put into my arm and start over with a new medicine. It took 90 days to finish the treatment, before I could do anything else that I wanted to.
After experiencing two I.V. treatments in two years, it was time to go back to high school and finish up senior year. This was something I was not going to miss for anything. During the month of April 2008 I had received bad news, I had tested positive for the third time and had to do another I.V. treatment. I was going to stop school at the end of senior year to do another treatment so I continued on with life.
I went to college for a term and had to stop because the Lyme disease was affecting my life so I went home to receive another treatment. This required me to get a third PICC line and this treatment was different than the other treatment. I had two I.V. bags with two different medicines. I was just hoping to get through this treatment and not worry about undergoing another treatment after this one.
During this treatment, I was getting really sick and didn’t know what was wrong with me. I was once again in the hospital and found out that I had a PICC line infection and had to have the PICC line removed. I had to wait a few weeks to get rid of the infection before continuing on with the treatment.
After waiting some time with the infection to cure, it was time to get another PICC line in the opposite arm. I finished my third treatment and all I wanted to do was go back to school and enjoy life.
Now you can see why I want to live life to the fullest with no regrets. There is so much I want to do in life, so there is no stopping me and what I want to do. I am Graduating College with a two year degree and hoping to get in one of the top schools in American, Brown University to study Egyptology. I want to get a PhD so I can go to Egypt and work in the field to uncover a tomb or maybe a royal mummy. This will be the day when everything I ever wanted to do comes true. I am working on a book about ancient Egypt and after getting my PhD to get the book published for all to see.
I am living life to the fullest with no regrets. I am exploring the world around and see what I can make happen in life because I never know when the Lyme disease will stop me in my tracks.
