Training Webinars

This I Believe is offering free webinars for staff of continuing care facilities interested in engaging their residents in writing and sharing personal essays about their core beliefs.

Of all of life’s big questions, “What do you believe?” is one of the most important. Many of our elders may wish to share their beliefs with their children and grandchildren but they may find it difficult to actually put them into words. Drafting a personal philosophy of life can be difficult—even when writers have many decades of life experience.

This I Believe is an international project engaging people in writing, sharing, and discussing the core personal beliefs that guide their daily lives. These short statements of belief, written by people from all walks of life, have been featured in weekly broadcasts on public radio since 2005, and are based on the popular 1950s radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow.

The webinars will teach those who work with elders how to guide them in the process of writing and sharing their personal philosophies in a 500-word essay. You will learn how to use This I Believe books, CDs, and curricular materials to facilitate a multi-week essay-writing workshop in your community. These webinars provide proven tips and tools for anyone interested in helping others tell the story of their beliefs and to leave a written legacy for generations to come.
