Essays Gathered from the URL

This template gets the comma separated list from the variable "play" and returns those essays. Although this is html, it would be just as easy to have the template spit back XML/RSS for use in a widget.

This is the delivery side of the problem of generating user lists. The gathering side would involve taking user registrations and then allowing users to add essays to a field in their user profile. With that information, we could provide a way for them to essentially copy this kind of URL and embed it on their iGoogle/My Yahoo/Etc. pages or for use in a more generic widget.

The numbers in the URL can be changed to any valid ID of an existing essay. For example, this is an alternate URL. Note that not all of them have audio. At this moment, there is no checking going on in the URLs to make sure arbitrary code is not being sent. It is just a proof of concept and there is no essay ID 60000, but it still returns results.
