Kindling the Flame

I believe if you are young or old, big or small, boy or girl, you can do anything.

Just yesterday, I watched “The Biggest Loser,” and saw 400+ pound people work their butts off. Guess what? They are no super hero, and will never be a superhero, all they are, are normal, really big people. What separates them from your Average Joe is that they have kindled the fire within them to drive them past compromising, past any other limits set before, to a place not many people have felt before.

I believe anyone can do anything that they want to.

Want is not defined as hope, because hope got no one anywhere. Want is defined as desire, passion, and crave. Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Micheal Phelps, and Apollo Ohno would have gotten no where without their desire, their crave to get better, their passion to be the best. Their crave will envelope them in flames, eating them, hurting them until they stanch the hunger within by climbing to the top. Even then, these people have realized not to let their flame die, because when it does, there is no more passion, for anything.

I believe anyone can do anything that they want to.

That tends to be the problem though. There are not enough people who have the fire burning inside them. There are not enough people who even care about what is going on around them. Most people I know are kids who are going to live life and take whatever hits them, or they want the key to the universe handed to them on a golden platter. Even most adults I know do not have this fire, or they have let it die down and be lost in time. That IS the problem. Who do you know that has this passion, this fire driving them past the limits? Who do you know that does not just talk about changing, and doing something good for this world? Who do you know that will actually take a stand and kindle their passion, crave, and desire?

But I still believe that anyone, boy or girl, young or old, big or small, can accomplish anything…

If they kindle their flame.
