Most of us have had the opportunity thrust upon us, to learn that life is not always as it seems. Sometimes life seems simple, sometimes life is hard. Sometimes life seems easy, sometimes it leaves us scarred. There are only two guarantees in life: life after death, and death after life. The rest is all perception. Life is a paradox. Life is inexplicably simple, and yet for each of us, life is horrifically complex. Life is the same for all of us, and yet different in each of us. Life is our passion, yet our apathy. Life is our equal opportunity at happiness and sadness, and yet the difference between them. Life is our pain, yet life is our release. Life is our war, and our peace. Life is our birth, and our death; our beginning and our end. Life is time, and the lack there of. Life is reflection, and yet life is not knowing what you’re seeing when you look in the mirror. Life is those moments you embrace, and life is those moments you let slip through your fingers. Life is what we remember, and life is what we wish we could forget. Life is when a day goes by in what feels like 5 minutes, and life is when you check your phone, and 3 hours later check the time and it’s only been 5 minutes. Life is when you wish you could go back to yesterday, and life is when you wish you could fast forward. Life is reliable, and life is uncontrollable. Life is our desire for something more, and yet life is our fear of what might happen. Life is what drives us to do something impulsive, and yet life is when we can’t do anything but sit still; frozen. Life is what makes us want to do something we know we can do; if we only tried, and yet life is our fear of failure that we can’t bring ourselves to act. Life is what makes us laugh, and life is what makes us cry. Life is when we know better, but we do it anyway. Life is what makes us feel big, and yet life is what makes us feel unbearably small. Life was our courage when we didn’t know we had any, and yet life is our deepest fear. Life is our undefiable, innate instinct to survive, and yet life is what makes us sometimes wish we could stop breathing. Life is destruction, and yet life is creation. Life is constantly changing; and yet life always stays the same. Life is our ups, and our downs; our mountains and our valleys. Life is different for each of us, and yet life is the same. Life is the reason we grow. Life is the reason we get out of bed in the morning. Life doesn’t care what you think, and yet life is only what you choose to believe. Life is an innumerable sum of different stories, all of which begin and end in the same way. You can’t choose how you were born, and you can’t choose how you are going to die. But you can choose how you live. This I believe.
