Best Place to Be
I’m standing on the dam. I throw out my line into the pond. I feel a tug and pull back and reel it in. It’s a huge catfish. There is just one problem; I can’t get the hook out of the fish’s mouth. My dad comes over and takes the fish off the hook. He is lecturing me on how I am sixteen years old and I can’t get a fish off a hook. I know I’ll hear it from the rest of the family, but I don’t care, because I believe that my grandma’s is the best place in the world to be.
When I go to my grandma’s I feel safe. I get to relax and be myself. Where, when I am in State College it’s more difficult for me. When you make mistakes you get looked at weird and people take you for someone stupid. When make a mistake at my grandma’s they just laugh and let it go. It’s all about family up there. They are always there for you no matter what.
There are a lot of traditions as well. Like my hunting tradition that has been going on for four years. I like to call it going to camp even though it’s my grandma’s house. It just makes it sound cooler. I get to do a lot of awesome things when hunting season comes along. Ride four wheelers and have shooting competitions. If you were in state college hunting, you wouldn’t be able to do all of this.
Also, the importance of family up there is very strong. I get to see my sister and my nieces. They like to jump on me and tackle me. I get to see my aunt and uncle. My uncle is so awesome, because he lets me ride four wheelers everywhere. I see my cousins and people that I’m not related to, but still call them family. I believe that my grandma’s is the best place to be, because it’s where I can be me.
