Being able to communicate is one of the best talents that humans have. Communication gives humanity the capability to interact, giving the opportunity to be involved in society. In addition, in every community there are many languages spoken within.

All languages have the same purpose. They help to communicate with each other. Communication has it good side and bad side. However, many individuals do not realize the bad side can hurt others in a serious way. During teenage years, in my opinion communication, can be more upsetting than when a person becomes older. Simple words can cause many problems, for example, teenagers may be suffering of problems, or they cane be offended what other say.

High school, I feel, is when there are more possibilities that words can hurt the most because many students can be mentioning absurd comments about other students which may cause many problems. In my own case words can really hurt because many students use to make fun of me during my last year in grammar school and my first year of high school. This students use to be teasing me because of my accent. In this country these events were horrible while in school. My first six years of education I spent them in Mexico city, however, in my seventh grade I had to move to Chicago and I had to learn to speak English. It was a really challenging experience. Thankfully I was able to learn quickly, but it was really hard for me to pronounce words in the right way, giving classmates an opportunity to make fun of my accent.

When students used to make fun of me I would think why would they make fun of me and I still do not understand why. However, now that I am I junior in high school I do not really care at all about what they think about my accent. That is something that makes me special. The consequences of them making fun of me made me not like to speak in public any more or I did not want to speak English at all. That is why words can hurt because they made individuals feel bad and cause problems.
