Age Group: Under 18Themes: forgiveness

Do you ever find yourself stuck in the past, wondering why your life is the way it is? Do you believe in fate? Well Walt Disney, in the movie Pinocchio, put it in a beautiful way when the song says “fate is kind, she brings to those who love the sweet fulfillment of their secret longing”. There is a hidden truth behind this song and it is simple: Good opportunities come to those who wait. As long as you are patient and have a simple understanding of the word fate, you will be able to see a mutual change in your life. There is only way you can obtain this mutual understanding and that is through believing that fate will happen. My mom always told me that you have to forgive yourself before you can forgive anyone else. That is what I believe and fate has strengthened this very belief.

As a child I always believed that what ever happens, just simply happens and that what’s meant to be will always find its way. Well just means to be true for two major aspects in life. Well as a child, and like most children, my father left me when I was pretty young: 9. Like most children at that age, I blamed my father for quite sometime. However, I learned a life lesson at an early age: in order to forgive someone else, you have to forgive yourself. I stopped blaming him because of that simple belief my mom had given me. Not only did it give me piece of mind, but it also gave the ability to let go of hurtful obstacles in my life. I began to live my everyday life by that belief and the belief that what’s meant to be will find its way. Last year was a major year in my life. One being that my body crashed and that my dad came back into my life. These two conflicts strengthen the belief that anything is possible. Fate brought me back to my dad and my dad back to me. Though I had to wait, I am fortunate to have him back. And when he sits and blames himself I just simply say “in order to forgive someone else, you have to forgive yourself”.
