Smiling Is Contagious

It was just another day of high school; woke up at 7:00, showered, got into my car and started a new day. As I threw my book bag onto my shoulders and walked up the steps to enter the doors, a teacher shouted, “Good morning young lady! I hope you have a wonderful day!” He gave me a huge grin and I politely smiled back. Once I entered school I began to think about how much that teacher had made my morning better already. That one smile had brightened up my morning.

Smiling is contagious.

That day after school I was going for my daily run. Everyday I pass hundreds of people in cars and walking down the streets and usually pay them no mind, but this day was different. I saw an old woman standing there with her dog. As I ran in front of her we made eye contact and she smiled. At that moment I realized that she had passed her smile onto me, and I was ready to pass it onto another person like myself.

We never stop to think about how far just one smile can travel. Just a single smile can go on for miles, so let’s start an epidemic and get the world infected! Smiling is contagious, This I Believe.
