This I Believe (a rap about choices)
Share This Essay:
Turn left; turn right, they make decisions every night.
If you think about it you don’t even put up a fight. That isn’t right.
You live your life, put up with the strife, not thinking ‘bout it.
Like a movie, in the crowd man I wouldn’t doubt it.
You’d be better off playing the game.
If you don’t they’re gonna put you to shame. Who’s to blame?
Take chances, make choices, put yourself out there.
But if you don’t you’ll be shot right out of the air
They won’t care. You’ll just be scared right out of your mind.
Hallucinating all the time, ‘bout places without the crime and the grime
Of city streets which used to be your home,
Then the game took over and left you all alone.
When it’s over and done you’ll be skin n’ bone.
This game of life is something not to mess around with
You only have one chance I would think about it.
What I believe in is to make choices,
But when it comes down to it block out the voices.
Just be you and do what you want to do.
Clarity is key to help you be you.
But watch your back, the game can change and attack.
In that instant you will fade to black.
Think about how the choices you make affect others,
Will it help you and your brothers?
Sure it’s tough to make this decision
It will help to use precision in this line of vision
It takes time to read a rhyme and see the design
I had in mind.
Depends on what you choose to set your mood
Don’t want to be crude but make the right choices
Don’t be a fool and listen to the voices
There deceiving you, choosing the wrong things to do. It’s not true.
I hope you listened to the message you’ve received
Letting you know This I Believe.
