I believe that there is an Almighty God that is the ultimate creator of all things seen and unseen, and known and unknown by us humans. This extends from the smallest subatomic entity, be it a physical particle, or electromagnetic radiation, or “string-like” connections in nature, to the furthest reaches of the Universe and all it contains.
I believe that all humans have an immortal soul that is attached to each mortal body, and when each mortal body ceases to function, the soul continues on. I believe that Jesus Christ was sent to the Earth by God about 2000 years ago to confirm this living on after death with God. I believe Christ was God’s love gift to Humankind, sent to proclaim God’s love and His laws for humans, as well as to hint at His benign Laws of the Universe.
I believe that God “runs” the Universe with a velvet hand, from a distance, and with minimal specific direction of events. I believe many of God’s Laws of the Universe are reflected in what humans currently know as the laws of science (e.g., physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, etc.), but also in much that we do not yet know. I think that recently postulated “dark energy” could be God’s “shadow”, or some manifestation of God’s presence and influence in the Universe. I believe that God created a set of Laws of the Universe, and set these laws into being at the Universe’s beginning with the Big Bang. I believe the Universe then evolved according to these laws, but also with some random and catastrophic events occurring at times.
I believe love between humans is souls connecting in a way God intended, and human spiritual and physical love is a foreshadowing of the afterlife in store for us with God. I believe Jesus Christ called this connection between humans and God God’s greatest commandment to us – the Law of Love to “love God and our neighbor.” I believe that in the afterlife there is a melding of space and time, and very likely, dark energy with our souls. I believe that the entire Universe as we know it, and still don’t know it, will end some day at God’s choosing in such a “final” melding.
In all these things I believe God has a divine sense of humor and likes to tease us with it from time to time by showing us some of what He has done. He does this by allowing us enough intelligence to understand some of the Laws of the Universe, and by giving us a glimpse of the incredible beauty of it all.
These things I believe in and through and with the Almighty God.
