This I Believe
This I Believe Essay
I believe in the celebration of Christmas. The love, giving, joy and religion
that embrace the season. I believe in the anxiety the night before Santa comes, the rush
that goes through your body when you see your mother and father smile as open up the
gifts that you made them.
I believe in love especially during Christmas. Families gather around the
fireplace, sipping on their hot chocolate and devouring all the homemade Christmas treats
you have smelled cooking only days before. In fact, the house still smells of cinnamon
and nutmeg. Loved ones bundle up close to one another, to stay warm from the cold and
that is when you realize who loves you and who will always be there for you. You know
that love is abundant when everyone is sharing Christmas’ past and family traditions –
you can hear it in their voices, see it in their eyes; there is simply no mistaking the aura of
the love surrounding Christmas.
I believe in the giving of valuable time, helping neighbors to decorate their home,
and sitting a while with them to listen as they share. I have often been too busy, and they
have always been so lonely. I believe in giving gifts that cost no money.
I believe the joy of Christmas accelerated on the very first day of December.
You suddenly find the good in those that often do not give you joy. You happily drop a
coin for the bell ringers for the Salvation Army. There is an immense joy from knowing
that giving to needy children selected from the Angel Tree will help them to
believe there is love through giving. I believe there is a joy when a family divided
reunites at Christmas. It just all comes together, the joy, the giving, the love, the religion,
almost like a parcel wrapped under a festive decanted tree .
I believe in Jesus, and the celebration of His birth. I believe there cannot be
enough Christmas hymns sung, too many living nativities performed or Carolers
knocking on nursing home doors. It is the joy of sharing this belief of Jesus’ birth that
multiples the emotions of believing in the celebration of Christmas.
