This I Believe

I believe in making AMVs. First I believe that I should start off with what AMVs are since many people don’t know. An AMV is an Anime Music Video. Well now I bet you’re thinking “oh, what a nerd!” but let me tell you that making AMVs is really fun. It’s the perfect thing to do when there’s nothing on TV, nothing to do outside, and no one online.

I have been making AMVs for about a year now, and in that year, I’ve probably made about twenty of them. You may say that it isn’t a lot, but it is. AMVs can take a really long time. One of the AMVs that I made was with the song called Psychosocial by Slipknot. It was only a beta though, so I only used the first twenty-six seconds. But let me tell you that those twenty six seconds took me three weeks to complete.

I’ll be completely honest with you, my AMVs aren’t the best. That is mostly due to the program that I have. I have windows movie maker, which is far from the best program out there. Actually I think it is literally the worst one you could use. It’s OK for me though, because this came with my computer. Most of the other programs are sold separately from a computer and cost A LOT of money.

Many people even think that it’s a waste of time. It’s only a waste of time though if you do not enjoy it. If you only make AMVs to try and get famous on YouTube or something, then it will be a waste of time. But if you make them just because you like messing with the effects, and the clips, and the song, then it most definitely is not a waste of time. In fact that is my favorite thing to do in my free time. And believe me I definitely have a lot of free time.

About half a year ago, I realized something though. AMVs bring out my true nature. At school, I’ll admit that I never get sentimental or show sympathy for another person. I don’t even do that at home either. But if something makes me feel depressed for whatever reason, I find a song that I like, an Anime or game that I like, and go crazy making a video.

Some times my videos teach me things. Important lessons that every human being cannot go on living without knowing. So far my videos have taught me not to give in to temptation. There might be things that you really want to do, even knowing that it isn’t the right thing to do. So even the most pointless of things can have a purpose to them. My videos even remind me that I am not talentless. All my life, I’ve been dealing with people always making fun of me; always telling me that I have no purpose, and that I’ll amount to nothing. Well I’m now proving you wrong. I believe in making AMVs.
