I believe that knowledge shapes who we are as a person.
Earlier on in my life I always lived by the motto that ignorance is bliss. After all, if we didn’t know all of the sad things going on we wouldn’t be sad. But then I came to the realization that knowledge equals power. For knowledge not only helps us make better, more informed decisions, it also shapes who we are and how we react to different situations.
I didn’t have this realization until this past election when I was voting for the first time. It was hard for me to see the other side of things, and even harder to see people support things I was so adamantly against. But that is when I realized that I believed the things I did, because of the knowledge I have.
I believe in attaining knowledge through trails. From the trials that I have faced came great, powerful knowledge. From telling a lie, I learned to always be honest, or from health trials came the knowledge that you only have one body treat it right the first time. Knowledge shapes your life and how you live it.
The knowledge I have makes me who I am, and shapes the beliefs I hold.
