I believe in family strength and perseverance if you set yourself to accomplish a goal, you should not let anything or anyone sway you from your goal. There are people out there that will tell us the goal is too much or that we should just give up. Or there are people who will be bad role models for us. Also with family strength you can accomplish your goals because you are pushed to a new level.
My parents have always taught me this. They came to America as immigrants and they spoke no English. My mother got a job cleaning offices and working in a diner. She worked two jobs while she was pregnant with my brother. My father took a job as a foreman. As we grew up he always told us to set our goals to finish school and college. He told us do not let vices get in your way and there would be people on the road that would try to influence us to do something that would stray us from our goal. My father always had food on the table and a roof over our head. My mother always told us through hard work we could accomplish anything. My mother always did anything for us to keep us going in our educational career. There were times where I had friends who would try and influence me to cut class or go smoke, but I never did because I remembered my dad who was working to the bone to try and keep his family happy.
Till this day he does, and my mother is still pushing me, my brother, and my sisters. Their guidance has allowed my oldest sister to have her family and a successful career, and my brother’s career is going well. As for my other sister and I we are still finishing our educational career and not letting anything stop us from achieving our goal. I believe through our family’s strength and perseverance has allowed us to reach things we never thought possible.
