I was just sitting here thinking about what to write my essay about. Then I realized that there may a lot of people who could fill a book about one subject but they do not have the opportunity to do it. So, I want to say that I believe that more people should be grateful for things, even the little things in life.

As Thanksgiving is only a couple of days away I was thinking what exactly is the meaning of Thanksgiving? Is it to have a large meal with all of the people in your family? So I have come to my conclusion, Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and to give thanks for everyone that has come into your life and everything that has happened for you this year whether it is good or bad.

I was just sitting here thinking about the three children that were killed in a town near me a few weeks ago when I realized that I need to be thankful for waking up today. This year I know not only the three children but a lot of other people will not be here to celebrate the holidays with their family.

I need to be thankful for all the people that have walked in and out of my life this year. I think that there is a reason for everything and that God would not place anything on our shoulders that we cannot handle. I am grateful for being in a cozy, stressful, emotional, and safe place. Although at times it does not seem like the place to be I am here and I mine as well make the best of it.

I think that people are too busy worrying about all the negative things in life to realize all the positive things that are happening. Everyone needs to start being grateful for all the good things and the bad that may come along with it. If there is only a handful of bad in all the good that happens then I will take it.

I think that people do not realize that waking up in the morning is something to be very grateful for. I know that I do realize what a gift it truly is to wake every morning even through the good, bad and ugly. I think that starting this year I will make a new tradition in my family. When we sit down to eat and after one of the men say the prayer then everyone is going to name something that they are grateful for in honor of those who have been taken away from earth at an early age.
