I come from a very close-knit family. My family is very important to me. I believe that grandparents are some of the most important people anyone could ever have a relationship with. I have two sets of grandparents in which I am very close to. In 2001, my family and I were struck with the news of the deadly disease that my grandfather had, lung cancer. I was heartbroken and did not know where to turn. I spent every night praying that God would take away the cancer in my grandfather’s lungs. In 2002, nearly a year after he was diagnosed, my grandfather was taken away from me. I was devastated. Through the years I have learned that death is a part of life and everyone must experience it. I believe his death has made me a stronger person. I miss him everyday that I live, but I know that he is no longer hurting.
