This I Believe

I believe there are still heroes. Unfortunately today’s mainstream media has a different interpretation of a hero than I do. I believe that heroes are people who put others above themselves and want to help people. The media moguls of today worship control freaks who want to dictate how we use our money, lives and the environment. There is an agenda among them that thinks most of us are either stupid or incompetent or both. We really don’t know what is best for us they think. Many will tell you the public has made a lot of mistakes lately especially in the elections.
Patrick Moore is one of my heroes because he was man enough to admit his mistake and changed after finding out the truth. He was the spokesperson for Greenpeace but after seeing the Amazon rainforests formed Greenspirit. He knows that Greenpeace and many environmental groups are misleading people and not truthful. Also Michael Crichton who wrote “State of Fear” and John Stossel who is a TV reporter both have presented the truth and need to be thanked by everyone. I thank them for their courage.
As a teacher, I was like Moore telling my students that we were destroying the planet and we all had to work to save it. I believed Rachel Carson who wrote “Silent Spring” and other environmentalists touting certain destruction. Now I know global warming is only a .8 degree increase in the past one hundred years and we are not in grave danger.
Recycling is good and has helped but fear will not help anyone. Children are actually harmed by it. Telling a child that the world is melting is cruel and must stop. The same people who laughed at those who thought the world was flat are saying it is melting. As then this is not funny
Unfortunately the ecco-terrorists have such a fervent desire to save the “earth” that they lose their grasp of reality. Many people are sincere and believe they are doing the right thing in “saving Mother Earth.” Many emotional people will not look at the whole picture and see that the extremists are destructive and won’t believe that environmental groups love the attention and donations that they get. They will merely react and not research. Some don’t have the time to really research and that is why it is important to present the truth and not scare children and gloss over the facts.
Therefore some so-called environmental heroes to the media often are vandals, liars and even arsonists. They have set forest fires endangering thousands of people. The truth is often lost in the emotional rhetoric of the radical activists and this doesn’t help anyone.
