I believe in the relaxing power of music, the delightful cheer that gets the entire body working as a whole in perfect harmony.
Music was my escape from the real world. The world of hatred and fears, the world of limitations. Music got my mind and body working together in perfect sync. It gave me a constant beat to follow throughout the day.
Music was not always a big part of my life. It wasn’t until I was in third grade that I got my first mp3 player, as a gift from my parents. I slowly began to build my music collection with any music that sounded familiar. As I listen to music, I found it very relaxing. It seemed to get my mind off the stress of homework, even though I only had about 30 minutes of work each night. When I was down it would cheer me up and when I was mad it would calm me down. It seemed to be the perfect cure for any mental problems.
I have always listened to music while I snowboard. It helps my mind stay calm at high speed and when I’m taking risks. It almost lifted off all my worries of crashing. The music got my body and mind working together with a constant beat, thinking and working for the same purpose of not crashing. I snowboarded fast because my mind was not occupied by fear, but rather the comprehension of the music I was listening to. I was still alert, but also relaxed at the same time. I also found music helpful when running
When I entered my first year of high school, I joined the cross-country team. I practiced cross-country everyday after school. And at each practice I brought my music. The music got my body running to a steady pace. It also got my mind ignoring the complaints of my body, like a machine working with a loose strew. I was able to run as long as my body was not going to let me down. My music kept my mind excited for any task and my body wanting to work.
Music is the most powerful, abstract, influential creation one can create. God first created music in nature. The tweeting of birds in the morning, or the splash of a salty ocean against a beach. The mysterious sound of a sea shell, or the sound of thunder that gives the body a scare. God surrounded us with music, and with it, we created a calming, and cheerful drug that gets people dancing to the same beat. I believe music will exist throughout all generations. It will always keep us high when times are low. It will always be a part of humanity, because, without music life wouldn’t be the same.
