I believe in living life to the fullest.
As a child I loved to climb trees. I would get to the top and look out, and pretend I could fly. I’d come back down from my perch in the sky covered in scratches, with bits of twigs in my hair.
I believe in watching the sunset. Stop and look out at the waves, and see that golden orb sink beneath the surface. Sit and watch the rainbow of colors that the sun paints on the sky, and then the dark purple that flows in over them.
I believe in watching storms. I believe in standing out on a picnic table and watching, as the wind shapes the surface of the water. I love the sound of rain on trees, and the green smell that results. I believe in feeling the soft sprinkling of drops on my face, and skipping through the puddles, soaking my shoes.
I believe in going out in the snow in the only clothes I have, and catching snowflakes on my tongue. I believe in running around, and getting freezing cold, but laughing all the time; and then, bundling up in front of a warm fire and drinking hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
A couple of years ago, my mom told my sister and me that there was going to be a meteor shower that night. We grumbled and whined about having to get up at two in the morning. It turns out it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Bright balls of blue-white light shot across the sky and disappeared into the inky blackness of night. Hundreds of meteors left stripes of pearly white that slowly faded into darkness. And, it seemed the meteors inspired their brothers, because there seemed to be an unthinkable amount of stars twinkling down at us. I made wish after wish that night. But, it seems, that sometimes, wishes are fulfilled without ever being asked. So, I believe in taking opportunities for amazing things to happen. I believe in taking every chance to let wishes come true, even if they appear at the exact moment they are fulfilled.
