This I Believe

This I believe, when I am dancing,

Shaping sinuous sine waves,

Hypnotizing hyperbolics,

Persuasive parabolas and other fluid functions

That fluctuate across the studio space –

A compelling calculus of contours:

“Calculus is concerned with change and motion;”

Concerned with dancing,

And the derivative of dance

Is not quantitative, but qualitative,

The succulent syllabic of a soul

Speaking, my entire body a tongue,

Lilting lovingly in a universal language.
