Free Falling into the Unknown

“Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” I believe in trying new things. I believe that you should never hold back in life. And most importantly, I believe in living life with no regrets. I feel that this is extremely important in life because you only live it once. Who wants to go through life without ever talking risks or stepping outside the box? I sure don’t and so far I haven’t.

Whoever would have guessed that I experienced the most breath-taking event of my life on a 9th grade band trip. We had just finished performing at Kissimee, Florida and we had free time to do whatever we wanted. My friends, Brittany, CJ, and I, decided to go on the World’s Tallest Skycoaster. It wasn’t an automatic decision though. CJ found all sorts of excuses, such as being afraid of heights and not having enough money. All of us almost decided not to go through with it because it was 30 dollars per person. After hesitating to compile 90 dollars together, we anxiously stepped in line. It turned out to be worth every penny. Being harnessed together and free falling 300 feet on a bungee cord was the highlight of my life so far.

How awesome is it to be able to say that I have fallen from the World’s Tallest Skycoaster. I can say that I have rock climbed and repelled off a cliff in Alaska. I’ve gone zip lining from treetop to treetop in the forest. I’ve tasted foods like octopus, frog legs, caviar, mussels, and swordfish. I’ve swam with dolphins and wild sting rays. I can’t imagine not doing any one of those. When amazing opportunities are presented to me, I try to always accept them. Because if I didn’t, I couldn’t imagine going through life wishing I had. Life is about these moments. It’s about the little moments where I feel like I’m invincible and that I can accomplish anything. It’s about those moments that I wish I could relive over and over again. It’s about the moments when I wish time could stand still. It’s about those moments that make great stories that I can pass on to my kids. It’s those moments that define who you are, and the kind of life you want to live.
