Recently I fullfilled a lifelong dream to own a ranch in the Texas Hill Country.
The ranch,1230 acres, had been used only for hunting for the past 30 years and no longer had a good perimeter fence.
My desire to raise meat goats required that a new perimeter fence be built.
Shortly after completing the fence construction I was waved over by one of my neighbors.
He complimented the new fence and asked the cost.I told him the price per lineal foot- he paused for a couple of minutes and then pulled out his check book and wrote me a check for his 1/2 of the cost of the fence based on our shared property line. He is a hard working man and I never asked him to contribute for fear of burdening him and/or embarrasing him.
When I complemented him on the integrity of his action he simply said “it’s the right thing to do”
