Laura Hillenbrand’s Seabiscuit tells the story of three men and their success in a little racehorse named Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit is the paradigm of success stories. Charles Howard, a Buick dealer that started the automobile craze on the west coast. Tom Smith, the last true frontiersman making himself a living through his horses’ wins. Red Pollard, a jockey whose luck waned and waxed as he tried to make himself as a jockey, despite not being the body type for it. Seabiscuit, a horse who defied all odds despite his less than perfect parents. These four individuals set forth a great deal of hope in a time where there was little to go around.
