From a life of folks trying to tell me what to do, I believe that personal freedom is the most valuable of all things.
I believe it is the legitimate function of law, as permitted use of force, to restrain those who will not let others live peaceably in freedom.
I believe that the function of morality is to encourage virtuous choices. If it is not to be a choice, it is a matter of law, not morality.
I believe this is best shown by God who smites the wicked, but asks the prophets to deliver messages.
