I believe not that the “grass is greener…,” but that it is green.
By Jeanette Hargreaves and her pal God, February 2007
I believe that Jesus died for all of us for all time, and that He is God.
But, how can God die,
and how can sin still exist if He became it,
and if He is always and everywhere?
I believe that paradox as I know it may be divine.
I believe that there are no answers to the questions I’m asking.
I believe that I think I know a lot, but that truly I know nothing.
I believe that God likes to remind me of that fact. :)
I believe that God sets two goals for our earthly life: to love Him, and love others.
I believe that we can get to know God through relationship with others.
Have you hugged a friend today?
I believe that one of the voices of God is that voice we all wake up with each morning telling us what we ought to do, what we should do.
I believe we all fight mighty demons every day.
I believe that many of us are passive to the battles raging around us and inside of us.
I believe that medicines and programs are not the answer.
I believe that connectedness is lacking, and that it is the answer.
Connectedness to each other, and to something greater than ourselves.
I believe that we become what we practice, and if we practice being loving, we will become loving.
I believe that success and achievement are not about money and power.
I believe that service and humility are Godly.
I believe that achievement and success stems from following that voice telling us what we ought to do, in the day-to-day, in the minute-by-minute.
This is one way we honor God.
I believe that all stress results from thinking “the grass is greener…”
I believe that the grass is green, and stress can be countered by counting our blessings.
I believe that failure in our God-given goals is unavoidable but
I believe that God forgives.
I believe that life is a journey of trying, failing, learning and trying again.
I believe when we die, that incessant failure will fall away and our pure selves will remain.
I believe that God chooses us not for our benefit but because believers are His people.
I believe that the restoration of God’s creation is not tomorrow or yesterday, but that it is at hand.
We are whole, we are loved, we are His children.
I believe that harm exists, and that there is a right and a wrong.
I believe we all know what is right and what is wrong.
I believe that God chooses simple people, so what does that say about me?
I believe that in today’s world, everyone knows so little about everything.
We need to find time to reflect.
Time to identify what is important, then ponder and strengthen those connections in our brains.
What I believe is flexible according to God’s will.
I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray:
Who Art in Heaven,
Hallowed by Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our Daily Bread,
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from Evil,
For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory.
Forever and Ever.
