The God of my understanding does not answer prayer. This idea developed perhaps many years ago by those who, with limited scientific knowledge, were doing their very best to deal with their difficult lives. They wanted with all their hearts, a better world.

This does not mean I don’t pray- I do.

Prayer is my way of feeling what I cannot touch, of contacting the distant. It;s the ultimate humaness – The “Thy will be done”.

God is everything!

In this day and age, it seems, many have walked away from organized religion—–or accepted a form that applies the scripture like a coat of paint.

Why would Jesus, when asked “who are you?” reply “Who do you say I am?”

I think it can only be because he wanted the people to use their God given brains! He could so easily have told them who he wanted them to believe he was.

Instead he was saying in effect, use the words and examples given you. Think it out – work it out and act with courage and honesty. Pray for forbearance, humility, and compassion.

With this admiration, I, like those of old, yearn for a better world. I believe my part is to open my mind, cherish the truth, love my neighbor, and with that love, tread gently on this earth.
