This I Believe
No matter how big of a mess things get, or how bad a fight is, sisters will always help each other out when they need it. Whether it is just helping to pick out a shirt, giving make up tips, or just sharing stories over the phone, my sister will always help me. I believe that sisters will always be there for each other.
Last year, my mom and I got into a big fight that made me very upset. I ran to my room and immediately started to cry. I did not know what else to do, so I called my sister, Jenna. Even though she was mad at me for hanging up on her at six in the morning when she called, she stilled answered the phone. When she heard my voice, she instantly knew that something was wrong and tried to calm me down. Jenna was at a party at her friend’s house, but she knew that I was sad so she left the party for a while to talk to me. Just by her doing this, I was already feeling better. She listened to my sob story and told me that everything would be all right. I do not exactly know how long we talked for, but it must have been a long time because when we started to talk it was light out and when we finished it was dark. If she had not taken the time to talk to me, I would have been even more upset.
Another time that my sister, Jenna, was there for me was when I chipped my two front teeth. I looked awful and I wanted to die because the dentist said that he could not fix it for two whole months! I was so self-conscious and I did not smile for a week in fear that I would end up looking like a hillbilly. Jenna told me that I should not care about how I look and that once my teeth get fixed, they will be perfect forevermore. This cheered me up a little bit, but she still went shopping and bought me a tee shirt that said, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth”. This made my laugh really hard because it was true, and it was the first time that I smiled in a whole week, which was very rare for me.
Jenna helped me to realize that I would be fine in a couple months and then I would not have to worry about it again. She has helped me with so many aspects of my life and is always there if I just need someone to talk to. Amy Li, a writer, once said, “Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there”. I believe in this quote because my sister is always there for me, in good times and in bad.
