This I Believe
For many years, humans were considered to be at the top of the food chain, the rulers of the earth. We dominated all the other species of the world. We’ve owned them, we’ve watched them, we’ve controlled them. Its like the whole world is one giant plantation and the humans are the masters. The way we see it is that we are the intelligent ones. But just how smart are we?
We are the creators. The species that can and probably will destroy the world that we live on. Going from using sticks as weapons to automatic weapon machinery. Although people say that we are at the top and that we are the back bone of the world. I believe that we are at the top and also at the bottom of the food chain. Not only are we the inventors, but we are also the destroyers.
There is a thing that we call “ trade off.” Its pretty much like, you will sacrifice having some bad things in order to get a little bit of good out of it. That is practically what we are doing right now. The good things that we are doing would be: making cars for transportation, purchasing items, reproducing to past things down, all of these things that we do are great for the world. Now for the trade off, in exchange for the production of cars we get air pollution, in exchange for purchasing we can get just regular happy people, but its what we do after we’re done with those items. For example, some of those items end up on the streets or in lakes and rivers causing land and water pollution and in exchange for reproducing, we get over population.
How does the negative impact us? I believe that if I asked every person in the world this question most of them would say that the negative things do not effect them at all. Actually, the negative is effecting everyone. With the ozone layer disappearing, our skin is unsafe outside against the harmful rays from the sun. Many people have very bad allergies, and with pollution in the air, many people are having a hard time breathing.
I believe sooner or later, everything will just die including us. Scientists have been keeping there eyes on the ozone layer and things are not looking so good. Its practically gone. Because of that, the glaciers are melting, natural disasters are occurring more and more, different types of viruses are being produced in a quantity of numbers. Like I said, we are at the top and bottom of the food chain. Although we are slowly killing ourselves and everything else, there is still a chance that we can save the world. The lives of everything on the planet earth rests in our hands, but if we have the opportunities to make it better, why don’t we? Who are the smart ones now?
