This I Believe…
In my life things have always seemed pretty simple and as I get older I have begun to notice that things change and so do people. I believe that happiness is a quality of life and that to be happy in any form or fashion is okay. To some people happiness can be to wake up in the morning and feel good and energized, while to others it may be to have that new pair of shoes, but to me happiness is knowing that I have family and friends to be there for me no matter what. I believe a family is one of the best things in the world, and to have a family is always having someone that will love you even through the hard times. Family and friends have seemed almost obsolete, because people feel that they are self made and that they do not need anyone even a family to love.
I believe that work should come second to family and spending time with the people that are most important in your life. Work is very important and is something that most people cannot get out of, but it should not run a persons life. I believe in spending time with children, because my mother was very young when I was born and as got older she worked very hard to keep a job and continue school through college. Even though my mother had this large burden on her with school and work she never forgot about me. When I was younger we would all go out together and spend the weekend together and she always made sure I was taken care of. Children are very important and follow example, because in seeing all of my mother’s hard work makes me want to work just as hard to make it for myself and no one else.
I believe that people do not take enough time for themselves and each other. When I was younger I could remember meeting many people that when you would pass by they would give you a grin or say hello, but today people are moving so fast that they do not even see the people around them, only the things that are ahead of them. People are so worried about becoming the biggest and the best, but when they get there they will only want more and if they never make it they feel like their life has been a complete failure. I believe the only failures in life are the ones that you make with the people around you and you never realize. I believe that when people make promises and plan activities with the ones they love and then allow other things to get in the way like work or things that have become more important than family then that is a failure.
