I believe that dancing requires more than just moving to a beat, its’s; a way of expression.
Dancing will always be my first love, my first passion. I started dancing around the age of 10 and have never stopped. Dancing is my calling and I dream of becoming a professional dancer someday.
I dance for my highschool and in an outside dance studio. But my first and foremost priority is my drill team, and will be until i graduate. I practice very hard everyday, of every week, of every month. I get up at 6 o’clock in the morning just to be at practice, which starts at seven. Some days we even stay after school. Drill team isn’t just practice though it’s a time for bonding and making memories with a group of wonderful girls. Now I’m not going to lie, drill team has its ups and downs. We do get made fun of by our peers and they call us ugly names. We just have to ignore their remarks and perform every Friday night our heads held high. It is very hard sometimes, but i like to look at it as character building. Sometimes I even have to sing the song “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”, just to remind me to shrug all the haters off.
The dance studio I go to, well you guessed it…my second priority. I dance at my studio two times a week, three hours at a time. I’m also on the competition team, so i have to be very dedicated. I go to the studio not only to better myself as a dancer, but becasue i love to dance! For example, when I’m mad, sad, or just plain bored I go to the studio and I dance. It helps me let go of everything I am feeling inside and I can express myself throuhg my movements and through the song.
I believe that everyone should dance, even if your not good at it. Dancing makes people smile, laugh, it makes people happy. It helps you express things that maybe you can’t express in words, but in movement. Dancing is like art, just without the paint. So the next time you hear a rhythm, a beat, anything with a melody…GET UP AND DANCE!
