I wish our media would do our democracy justice by asking difficult
questions, such as: why our President or Congress have remained completely apathetic to the violent Israeli aggression in Lebanon. UNICEF reports that Israeli air strikes in northern Lebanon have destroyed the country’s last road links to the outside world, severely restricting HUMANITARIAN access to the wounded and displaced. Over 1000 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon, mostly civilian and one third of them children, over 3,000 have been injured and over 1 million people displaced.
I believe Americans are not generally apathetic. I believe that the
overwhelming majority of Americans do not apporve of the violent aggression
in Lebanon. I believe that Americans are humanitarians and are sensitive
to the endless killing of innocent civilians in all parts of the world.
However, I do believe that our represenatives in Washington D.C. are
apathetic, approve of the violent aggression in Lebanon and have interests
that are not in line with the American people that they were elected to
represent, but rather they represent the rich few who have paid them over
TEN MILLION dollars over the past few years to represent their very
calculated and narrow interests.
According to opensecrets.org:
$6,095,120 Pro-Israel Contribution to federal candidates and parties in
2004 election year
$262,766 – Pro-Israel Contribution to Pres Bush in 2004
$3,816,143 – Pro-Israel Contribution to federal candidates and parties in
These dollar amounts do not reflect my American values. These dollar amounts reflect a narrow agenda of the very rich few with values which reflect violence and aggression. Speak up for your values.
