This I Believe
The “House” of Faith
Many people will stand alone, not making friends, and worrying about every possible thing that could go wrong in their day. These people completely stress out about every little thing every day of their lives. These people are too worried to go out unless it is required of them or meet new people because they are afraid of the dangers that may await them in the “outside world.” Because of this, they stay in their own little safe place where they try to feel secure. I believe people should have faith in others and not believe that the world is such a horrible place.
The world is not such horrible or dangerous place. Sure, there are some bad things in the world, but there are many good things as well. Just because there is some bad in the world or something bad happened to you, you should not go on living thinking that the world is a horrible place. Besides, what are the chances that everything is going to happen to you? Other people deal with just as much, if not more, problems in their lives than you do. Those people who constantly live in fear, along with everyone else, should have some faith.
Everyone should have faith. They should have faith in others, faith in humanity, and faith in the goodness of people. They seem a little repetitive, but they are somewhat different in their own way. People should first start having faith in a few people they can trust to allow them to make their view on people somewhat more positive. This allows them to build a foundation on which they can build their “house” of faith. The bigger and stronger the foundation is, the bigger their “house” may be.
After they have established a good sized, strong foundation of faith in a few others, they need to learn to have faith in humanity. They need to learn that there are many more good people you can meet in the world and that not everyone is bad. They need to get out and introduce themselves to others and make friends with good people. This is where they build the sides of the house and give it walls and paint. They should start feeling better about others now and your “house” should start looking good. Then, the final thing that needs to be done to your “house,” is put a roof on it.
The last thing that needs to be done is that they need to learn to have faith in the goodness of all people. Everyone has a good side to him or her. Even the worst of people have some good in them. You need to know that everyone has the potential to be good; some people just need a little help bringing out their potential. They could use some encouragement from others, so do not give up on them. Establishing this faith in the goodness of others puts up the roof of your house. This completes your house of faith, which should show everyone that not all people are bad and everyone has the potential to become a well-mannered person.
